The One Question Every Entrepreneur Must Ask
Scott Ginsberg's one of my fave peeps - every time I visit him (well, not personally, but his site), I get charged up.
His latest post has nothing to do with "wireless jobs" (at least not on the surface), but it's so good that I'm compelled to share.
The title is misleading. Once you read the article, you'll most likely be scratching your head and asking yourself a lot of questions.
I won't spoil the fun by giving away the gist of the article, but YOU NEED to read it for yourself. Especially if you are in process of building something. And, really, aren't we all in the process of building something? A company....a homeowner's association....our own empire?!
Check out Scott's Nametag empire HERE.
Then read his "One Question" article HERE.
Then, come back and answer this question: What are you building?
I really would like to know.

Job Seeker: Make Your Best Job Interview Your Last One

Scott Ginsberg posted this morning about his beloved Cardinals.
Actually, the post isn't about the Cards so much, but he uses the Cards season opener as a platform to encourage us to be more like David Eckstein.
If you don't follow Baseball, you don't know Eck. But you should. He's the perfect example of a major-leaguer who, day in - day out, gives his absolute best on the field.
He doesn't coast. He doesn't save himself. He leaves it all on the field.
Here's why Scott loves Eck:
Because every grounder matters.
Because he gives it his all, every time.
Because he plays harder than anybody.
Because he actually sprints on and off the field, every inning.
Did Eck win the MVP last year because he's lucky?
Don't think so.
If Eck were asked to name the one game, in all his years of playing, that he believes to be his best, Scott believes Eck would say,
My last one. Here's Scott's takeaway: Make your best one your last one.
The best sales call you ever made…was your last one.
The best speech you ever gave…was your last one.
The best report you ever handed in…was your last one.
The best meeting you ever had with your staff…was your last one.
The best customer service phone call…was your last one.
Now, let's make this even more relevant for my audience: the job seeker.
Are you looking for a job?
Are you currently engaged in job interviews?
Make your best interview your last one.
If so, it just might be your last one.

How to Get from Greet to Great

Excellent post by Scott Ginsberg titled, From Greet to Great!
Read this post if you have any contact, even if minute, with customers. It will help you understand the power that lies in the first words you speak (wow, does this ever apply to those of us in the recruiting business!).
Here's the intro to Scott's post:
The first words out of your mouth frame the entire customer experience. If you underestimate the power behind our ability to frame the customer experience, just listen to the people around you. Call the most successful recruiter - sales exec - furniture salesperson you know and listen to their voice-mail.
Consider these two facts:
1. According to The Wall Street Journal from February 17th, 2006, you have less than five seconds to make a first impression.
2. According to a 2007 report on www.hotelexecutive.com, your greeting influences the customer’s perception more than any other act of engagement.
Watch the way they greet a potential customer - listen to the first words they speak.
Chances are, their first words are NOT left to chance.
So, what are you doing (saying!) to get yourself from greet to great?

Recruiting is marketing. Try jobcasting.
