Embedded Systems Developer (Hardware/Firmware) – NMD2566
Major, On-going Responsibilities:
- Detailed electrical hardware, firmware designs for low power, mixed signal embedded systems
- Modification and maintenance of implantable medical devices
- Create, edit, and maintain documentation related to design controls and quality system guidelines
Job Responsibilities:
- 5+ years of industry experience in analog and digital (embedded systems) development, including firmware, unit and systems level testing and integration activities, with proofs of successfully completing two or more complex engineering projects from concept to production release
- Experience in medical device or other highly regulated development environment
- A strong desire and ability to personify the St. Jude Medical Credo and work as a role model
- A thorough understanding of the value proposition and metrics of success, with the skills and desire to promote them in a cross functional team to achieve excellence
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong technical skills, including analytical and problem solving skills to guide, mentor and grow a team
- Proven skills to execute technical project tasks and deliver of milestones consistently with a customer focused (including internal and external customers) mindset
- Proven ability to stay current on engineering technologies, with emphasis on the neuromodulation field
- Proven ability to perform engineering evaluations and second sources, interfacing with vendors and suppliers
- Provides technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering personnel
- Proven ability to take initiative
- Proven skills to conduct and participate in effective reviews of customer and engineering requirements, product and test specifications, reports, industry and company standards, guidelines
- Proven ability to identify and communicate ideas that would initiate actions towards improving product quality, testability, performance, affectivity, safety, usefulness and overall customer satisfaction
- Proven ability to nurture innovation and support activities that would promote new ideas, products, methods resulting in higher company value, brand recognition, customer awareness through expanding the intellectual property portfolio
- Proven ability and willingness to participate in activities, helping management on matters such as product, process, resource issues, engineering failure modes and corrective actions
Education and Training:
- Bachelors degree in Electronics Engineering or Computer Science and Masters degree in electronics Engineering
