Qualcomm is teaming up with Huawei Technologies to develop and improve advanced UMTS receiver technology.
With much of the mobile phone world considering future shifts to alternative wireless technologies like LTE and WiMax, Qualcomm has been stepping up its effort in different technologies including UMTS, which is based on the European-developed GSM standard.
In announcing the technology transfer agreement Monday with Huawei, Qualcomm said the technology can boost data throughput performance of HSUPA networks by as much as 60%.
