Merry Christmas, and ... good luck with your next job


Thousands in California receive notice their jobs are being cut.

Thousands of California workers will be home for the holidays -- instead of at the office, warehouse and other workplaces.

Driven by pressure to shore up their financial bottom lines, companies are terminating nearly 6,400 workers statewide between Thanksgiving and New Year's Day. Sacramento accounts for about 10 percent of the job losses, according to statistics compiled by the state Employment Development Department.
