Sprint Nextel Corp. appears to be grappling with more than its share of aggravated customers, according to a new Consumer Reports survey.
The company ranked last or second to last among the five largest wireless carriers in 18 major metropolitan areas in the survey, which questioned subscribers on call quality, billing problems and how well their cell phone companies responded to questions or complaints. Sprint ranked No. 2 in Washington, D.C., and was not ranked at all in Philadelphia.
Sprint officials said the company was striving to improve customer service.
The survey compiled opinions of nearly 43,000 wireless subscribers in 20 markets such as Atlanta, Boston and Los Angeles. Kansas City was not included.
“One of the poorer performers in terms of overall satisfaction,” the magazine writes about Sprint in its January edition. “Had more dropped calls than other carriers.”
