Are You Ready to ChaCha?

Seriously, until this morning I thought the ChaCha was just a dance (actually, that might be the Cha-Cha-Cha). Either way, it sounds like ChaCha is actually getting a lot of press these days because people are doing the ChaCha on their cell phones....a lot of ChaCha.

According to MarketWatch, ChaCha just accepted the 2008 North American Frost & Sullivan Award for Product Innovation, and announced that it now has more than a million users and has answered more than 27 million queries since it launched its revolutionary mobile answers service in January.

That sounds pretty impressive, and it is. It makes ChaCha the fastest growing mobile search service, surpassing both Google and Yahoo in both WAP and text-based search growth rates (according to the latest data from Nielsen Mobile).

What the heck is ChaCha? According to their site, ChaCha is like having a smart friend you can call or text for answers on your cell phone anytime for free. ChaCha works with virtually every provider and allows people with any mobile phone device - from basic flip phones to advanced smart phones - to ask any question in conversational English and receive an accurate answer as a text message in just a few minutes.

Gotta question? Simply text your question to 242242 (spells ‘ChaCha’) or call 1-800-2ChaCha (800-224-2242) from your mobile phone to ask any question.

Ok, here's my first question and I'm sending a text to ChaCha this morning:

"Will the Animal show up at RecruitFest! in Toronto?"

Don't tell me no lies, ChaCha.

Wireless Carriers say Cell Phones are No Danger

Well, I suppose this is nice to know...but did "not knowing" actually slow cell phone usage (MOU's)?

A four-year long study of cellular telephone base stations has found their transmissions pose no risk to human health, the carriers funding the study said Wednesday.

Mitsubishi Chemical Safety Institute carried out the study for Japan's three largest cellular carriers: NTT DoCoMo, KDDI, and Softbank Mobile. The study began in November 2002.

On Cell Phones and Wireless Payments

After seeing the demonstration that Visa just gave me at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, I'm pretty sure it won't be too long before many of us will be paying for everything from our groceries to our Dunkin Donuts wirelessly with our cell phones. Visa had a "pod" in the Near Field Communications [...]
